How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® uses a patented material called SmartTrack to make their clear aligner trays. They also boast a patented ClinCheck 3D treatment plan that can accurately track a patient’s teeth movements from week to week.

What is the treatment process for Invisalign®?

Once you’ve decided that you want to go ahead with Invisalign® clear aligners, you’ll visit us here at the practice to get a mould of your teeth. This will then be digitised so we can plan and track your treatment process.

The impression will also be sent to a technician who will make up your unique clear aligners. You will wear multiple aligner trays throughout the whole process, normally wearing the same set for two weeks before moving on to the next.

How long do I have to wear them for?

Most patients wear their aligners for up to 18 months and in some cases it may take longer, but it can take less time – it simply depends on where your teeth are when we start the process. You’ll have to wear the aligners every day to get the best results, but you can take them off to floss, brush your teeth and eat.

Will it hurt?

While Invisalign® shouldn’t be painful, some patients might experience some level of discomfort – especially when you first put a new set of aligners in.
