What is a mouth cancer screening?

A mouth cancer screening is a very simple treatment in which we will check for any signs of mouth cancer.

What will you be checking for?

At a mouth cancer screening, we will check for red or white spots in the mouth, and feel for any abnormalities including lumps, swellings, sores or growths.

How will you check for these?

Initially, we simply use gloved hands to check for any abnormalities, but we may also use a screening dye or screening light.

What happens if you find any abnormalities?

Even if we find an abnormality, there may be no cause for worry. If we do find something, we will refer you to a specialist for a follow-up with us here or possibly for a biopsy.
