Root canal treatments are a simple endodontic treatment that removes any infection that has taken hold at the root of tooth.
We will recommend a root canal treatment if we find any infected dental pulp present in any of your teeth. You may have an indication that a root canal treatment is needed if you’re experiencing increased pain or discomfort when biting down or if a tooth has become loose.
However, if you are visiting us regularly for check-ups, we may well notice action is needed before you experience any of these uncomfortable symptoms. To make sure a root canal treatment is definitely needed, we’ll first do an X-ray here at the practice.
We understand that many patients can be nervous when getting a root canal treatment but it is in fact a very simple treatment. We’ll give you a local anaesthetic so you don’t feel any pain or discomfort and we can also offer sedation via IV for any patients who are particularly nervous.
Once the anaesthetic is in effect, we’ll place a dam over the mouth so that only the tooth being treated is exposed and then proceed to create a small hole in it. The tooth will then be cleaned, irrigated and disinfected and then we’ll remove any infected pulp.
Yes. Once all the infected dental pulp has been removed, we’ll fit you with a temporary filling. This is so you can return to us for a check-up where we’ll make sure all the infection has been removed. We’ll then fit you with a permanent filling. They may also recommend a crown if required after the root canal treatment.
We offer wrinkle correction consultation as part of our range of facial aesthetic treatments.
